What is up with my counter?
I have counter envy. I will admit. When I visit another blog and the counter is in the tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands (see me green) I wonder if they are more special than me.
And then one day, yes literally one day my counter went from the mid 2000's to the mid 12,000's. I thought "WOW" I must be catching on, what I say and how I say it is better than I think it is and my writing skills must not be as bad as all my English teachers said (only if I really believed that, I know Jenny and Sue must cringe).
But alas, my counter for the following month has been as normal as it was before the jump. So this leads me to conclude (remember the medication) that all counters are flawed. Except of course NieNie and C jane of course because they have been on Oprah and you know what that does to book sales, is it any wonder it would raise their readership?
Even though I am, of course, witty and funny, I really believe my counter shorted out for a minute (maybe just to make me feel good) but I still have only a few readers, love you all, but now I think I will just have comment envy because you just cannot rely on the counters to be accurate.
PS: I will not download a new counter because that would reset to 0, and at least if a new person actually reads my blog I will look more popular than I am (yes, I know, just like High School!)

I too had this happen on my food storage blog. I was thinking I was so effective in my calling and happy I was magnifing it like I should be. Now that I know of this "counter flaw", my dreams of being a magnificent food storage specialist have been shattered!
This made me smile other than the part where you have had a headache. Wish I could bring you something - daisies to make you smile. Miss you.
I think that if you get a new counter, you can start it at your old number. So maybe it's worth a try.
But yes, you might as well just go for the comment envy. (I will try to help you win by commenting copiously.)

You are hilarious. I've seen you when you're hallucinating, and I don't think this is one of those times.
Having said that, I have a sitemeter on my blog that I thoroughly enjoy. I use it way more often than my counter (which I can't bear to get rid of for sentimental reasons). If you go down after my list of old posts, you'll see a little green square thing. Click on that, and it will direct you on how to download yours. It's way fun, and I've had readers from . . . Germany, New Zealand, etc. Freak viewings, I'm sure. But I can tell when my Laurels that are at BYU-Hawaii have checked in, or Heidi. You should try it.
Karen you are too funny! Silly counters....i'm glad you shared the advice as i was going to put one on my blog. Guess its not worth it if it gives ya fake numbers ;). I am sorry you have been having terrible headaches, hopefully you get over this one soon!
